Background
Dr. Russell Russo is an orthopedic surgeon in New Orleans, Louisiana who is fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, and double board certified. He completed his training in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital where he worked with the best minds in the field.
While in Houston, Dr. Russo was a team physician for the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, and Houston Dynamo. He also took great pride in serving as assistant team physician to Rice University Athletics, including the Rice Football 2014 Hawaii Bowl Champions.
Dr. Russo also served as a physician for NASA at the Johnson Space Center, helping the next generation of Astronauts prepare for an eventual mission to Mars.
Our Story
Dr. Russell Russo
Dr. Russo is excited to return to the city where he was born and raised. He decided he wanted to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine after an experiencing an ankle injury in high school.
Dr. Russo is a proud alumnus of the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency while working at the Interim Charity Hospital.
Throughout his medical career, he has won several awards including a nomination for Medelita's National Resident of the year award, as well as paper of the year awards at the Louisiana Orthopedic Association annual meeting, 3 years in a row.
Dr. Russo's research has been featured in articles around the world, as well as in National Geographic's Inside America series.
Dr. Russo's passion is to take state of the art care that can be found at the highest level of professional sports and at the country's finest medical institutions and bring that care and expertise home for our local athletes.
Dr. Russo is proud to call New Orleans home.
Dr. Kimberly Dao Russo
Internal Medicine Physician
Dr. Kimberly Dao Russo trained in New Orleans under the finest medicine doctors at ILH and other institutions.
She joins her father, Dr. Minh Dao, in treatment of general medicine complaints and primary care. Together they work at Versailles Health Clinic in New Orleans East.
Open Monday through Saturday, the clinic services the area around Chef highway and Alcee Fortier and walk-in appointments are taken.
Dr. Dao Russo is also specialized in aesthetic medicine providing laser and botox as needed on appointment only.
She is also an entrepreneur starting her own activewear line, Smitten Kitten Active.
